Public lecture and workshop, Mexico


DF_DC have been invited to lead a workshop to the Tecnologico de Monterrey School of Architecture in Guadalajara, Mexico between the 10th and 12th of April, along with a public lecture titled Tensions.

K.Arch Lecture


Dario and Diego delivered a lecture as parts of the K.Arch Talks series at Kingston University, revolving around a series of thematic binomials that influence or determine the work of the practice. Camaradas Exhibition


Diego Calderon of DF_DC and Thom Brisco of Alder Brisco collaborated with a joint piece for the Camaradas exhibition at the Menier Gallery in London. The piece is a buff plaster cast of Oxford's conjoined quadrangle colleges, overlaid on casts of the green Cantera volcanic stone-built urban blocks that hold Oaxaca's irregular Zocalo as abstract pieces that interlock in a casual series.

Guest crits at The Cass, Studio 02


Dario and Diego were invited a guest critics to the undergrad Studio 02 at The Cass, who are focusing their research and projects in the Portuguese Alentejo in a parallel programme to our Kingston University Studio Lisbon Project. Thanks to Charlotte and Colin for the invitation.

Don't Move, Improve 2019


Elliott Square has been selected for the Don't Move, Improve! 2019 exhibition and publication by NLA (New London Architecture). Selected projects will be showcased at the Building Centre in early 2019.

Practice rebranding


DFN +DC Architects have officially rebranded as DF_DC Architects. The change of name corresponds with a restructuring of our London and Lugano studios in terms of organisation and our overseas collaborations.

We have secured Planning consent for our project in Camden Mews, London.

10 Books


Dario & Diego presented 10 books of architecture (directly or indirectly) at Kingston University as part of the Register Lunchtime series, intended to be a cross-fertilisation of ideas between Studio leaders.

Sao Roque Holborn: Michela de Nichilo


Michela de Nichilo’s show The Salt Series: Groundless (Part1) opens tonight at our co-curated Sao Roque art space. The installation is a multimedia work using salt, video and resin cast tiles.

New commission: School and dwellings in Lamone


We have been appointed for the project of a new-built school and housing block in Lamone, Switzerland. Planning application submission due on November 2018.

Planning consent, Clippers Quay Estate


Planning consent has been granted for the development of two twin villas within the Clippers Quay Estate in the Isle of Dogs.

Competition shortlist, Canobbio


We are finalists in a competition for a new elderly housing in Canobbio, Switzerland.

KU Studio C, end of year show catalogue


The Kingston University architecture yearbook with the work of Studio C (Work Rest Think Play) is out, with proposals developed with our students for temporary structures at St George’s Bloomsbury and Lyle Park in West Silvertown.

In-situ, Residential block in Paradiso


Site works at our Paradiso project have commenced, a block of 14 apartments with views of Lake Lugano. Completion expected December 2019.

Schweizweit, Schweizerisches Architekturmuseum


The Schweizweit: Swiss Architecture Today exhibition featuring our work opened in the Arc en Rêve Centre d’Architecture in Bordeaux.


A new dawn for Swiss architecture.

Since the second half of the 20th century, Switzerland has been a pioneer in the field of architecture. And Schweizweit questions changes to the contemporary vision of architecture in this country, and in Europe as a whole.
Schweizweit presents a freeze frame of architecture in Switzerland today. While the image of Swiss architecture is still characterised by the minimalism of the 1990s, the reality today is quite different, and much more diverse, as can be seen at Schweizweit.

Palazzo del Cinema opens


Palazzo del Cinema in Locarno has opened its doors to the public, after hosting its first edition of the Festival between 02.08.2017-12.08.2017. The project, in collaboration with AZPML, received the first prize in an open international competition in 2012.

Garden pavilion, Oxfordshire


We are working on a proposal for a garden pavilion in Kingham, Oxfordshire, in collaboration with Peter Feeny architects. The proposal is based on a dual condition of free, open space for gathering and series of services excavated within the structural core. A terrace and a fire pit look towards the adjoining agricultural fields.

Planning consent has been granted for our Chetwynd Rd project in the Darmouth Park Conservation Area in London.

Schweizweit in Lugano


The Schweizweit: Architetture recenti in Svizzera exhibition featuring our work opened in the old slaughterhouse converted to gallery, Ex-Macello Lugano.

In-situ, Elliott Square


Construction works have commenced at Elliott Square, a reconfiguration and extension of a 1970s terraced house in NW London. Completion expected for Spring 2019.

Kingston University, Architecture and Landscape book


The Kingston University yearbook with the work of Studio C is out. Our Studio (run with Jose Silva) focused on proposals for the Euston Arch Trust and the design of a civic hall in the Hampstead Garden Suburb.

Works at Camden Square have entered the last two weeks before Practical Completion.

Kingston School of Art - Summer show 2018


The Kingston School of Art Summer show opened on 02.06.2018. The projects developed in Studio C (Calderon, Roiz, Silva) dealt with the changing land-use in the Docklands through ephemeral spaces for spontaneous performance. DFN+DC also served as guest critics for Studio 3.3 Dwelling in the Periphery (of Modern Architecture) projects developed in Ticino (CH).

Open Studios - London Festival of Architecture 2018


Our one-day show with images of our work opened (and closed) on 01.06.2018, where we displayed 150 small fragments, photos, illustrations and sketches of our production without a conventional sequence as a way of provoking conversations.

DFN+DC architects will host a one-day exhibition of small projects in the UK, Switzerland and Mexico in their Holborn studio, along with an informal presentation on the practice and work methods. Join us for a beer, an assortment of crisps and a conversation.
This event runs in tandem with HASA Architects' Open Studio.

Final reviews at Cambridge University


Diego Calderon was a guest critic for final reviews at Cambridge University, Studio 3. The Studio, titled "From Point", worked around the Hackney Marshes using the notion of Laboratory of the Everyday as a theoretical ground for a wide range of interventions.

Open Studio

Planning consent has been granted for the Steeles Rd house, in the Belsize Park Conservation Area.

Office trip to Basel / Schweizweit exhibition


Office trip: We went to Basel for the opening of the Schweizweit exhibition at the Swiss Architecture Museum (SAM) which features our work, and spent the rest of the weekend visiting other recent (and not so recent) buildings by H&dM, Christ & Gantenbein and Buchner Bründler.
